    Currently, most farmers? information is provided either by extension workers, through libraries or via websites. The number of extension workers has been going down while that of farmers has been growing hence the need for innovative information systems to address this gap.

    The Zantiébougou Women Shea Butter Producers Cooperative (Coprokazan) in Mali has recently been recognised by the Ministry for the Advancement of Women, Children and Family as one of the most successful producers of shea butter producers in Mali during the National Week of Solidarity in Mali.

  • Wireless network connects community organisations in Tanzania
    On October 26, 2008, a wireless mesh network was launched in Sengerema, Tanzania, connecting 10 local organisations to the internet through the Sengerema Telecentre.

  • IICD Scales up Youth Projects in Zambia
    IICD is proud to announce that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Child Development (MYSCD) in Zambia. Signed on 28th August, the agreement will see IICD and two supported projects in Lusaka and Ndola jointly supporting sixteen Youth Resource Centres, the Department of Youth at the Ministry, the National Youth Council and Provincial Youth Development Coordinators.

    A one-day workshop was organised at Tamale in the Northern Region for project managers and partners of the IICD Ghana country programme, in collaboration with Ghana Information and knowledge Sharing (GINKS), a Ghanaian Non-government organisation (NGO).

  • Inter Access wins award for partnership with IICD
    IICD private partner Inter Access has won the Computable Magazine Award for Most Socially Responsible ICT Company of the Year 2008. The Dutch IT consultancy received the nomination from the Dutch magazine for the support it has given, in partnership with IICD, to various ICT projects in Africa.
